Our limits

What We Do Not Take On

We don't do new-construction installs for builders, and we don't touch commercial rolling steel doors or warehouse dock equipment. Those jobs need a different setup than what we run, and saying yes anyway just means a slower, worse job for you.

Phone quotes without photos

We also won't quote a repair over the phone with no model number or photo - garage door hardware changed enough between the 1960s and the 1990s that guessing gets expensive fast. If your opener is the kind with a chain drive bolted to a header bracket that hasn't been made in years, we'll tell you straight whether parts are even available before we show up.

Discontinued part chasing

Sometimes the honest answer is that replacement costs less than chasing down a discontinued part. We'd rather lose the job than string you along on a repair that won't hold. We also don't carry every spring size on the truck for every door built since the 1960s.

Outlier door hardware

Agoura Hills homes span a housing stock from 1967 to 1999, with a lot of it dating to the 1980s, and that range covers several generations of torsion and extension spring hardware. If your door is an outlier, we may need a day to get the right part rather than force a mismatch onto your track.

Our services

What We Actually Do

Most of the work is springs, cables, rollers, and openers on doors built during that 1967-1999 run that makes up the bulk of local housing.

Thirty-year-old spring failure

A 1980s-era door with original hardware is a common call: the torsion spring has done thirty-plus years of cycles and finally lets go, or the extension springs on an older two-door setup have stretched past safe tension. We replace springs, cables, and rollers, repair bent track, and swap out openers that have stopped responding or started grinding.

Plain-use wear

Because the climate here runs mild and temperate, we don't see the rust-through and ice-cracked panels that garages in harsher climates deal with. What we do see is wear from plain use - nylon rollers that have gone egg-shaped, cables fraying at the drum, and photo-eye sensors knocked out of alignment.

Dented panels, worn seals

Panel dents and worn weatherstripping come up too, especially on doors original to houses from the 1970s and 1980s. We work on both sectional and older one-piece doors, since the area's housing age means both styles still show up on service calls. If a repair isn't worth the money against a straight replacement, we'll say so before we start, not after.

Where We Travel

We're based at 29800 Agoura Rd in Agoura Hills and run service calls through the surrounding area: Oak Park 2 miles north, Westlake Village 3 miles out, Bell Canyon and Hidden Hills each about 6 miles, Lake Sherwood at 7 miles, and Woodland Hills 9 miles east. We also take calls out to Santa Susana, Topanga, and Santa Rosa Valley, each around 10 miles from our base.

Farther out, we cover Somis at 16 miles, Piru and Fillmore at 19 miles, and Stevenson Ranch at 19 miles as well, though travel time on those runs can push scheduling out a bit, especially later in the day. If you're closer in - Agoura Hills itself, Oak Park, or Westlake Village - same-day calls are easier to fit.

Call 18184417796 to get on the schedule, or stop by 29800 Agoura Rd if you'd rather talk in person. Either way, tell us the age of your house if you know it roughly - given how much the local housing stock varies from 1967 to the late 1990s, that one detail helps us bring the right spring and hardware the first time.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work on garage doors outside Agoura Hills?

Yes. We run calls out to Oak Park, Westlake Village, Bell Canyon, Hidden Hills, Lake Sherwood, Woodland Hills, Santa Susana, Topanga, Santa Rosa Valley, Somis, Piru, Fillmore, and Stevenson Ranch. The farther runs, like Piru and Fillmore at 19 miles, may take longer to schedule than calls closer to our base on Agoura Rd.

My house was built in the 1980s - will you have the right spring?

Most likely. A large share of the local housing stock dates from the 1980s and 90s, so we stock spring sizes common to that era. Outlier setups, especially original hardware from the late 1960s, sometimes need a part we order in rather than carry on the truck.

Do you install new garage doors for new construction?

No, we don't take on builder installs for new construction. Our work is repair and replacement on existing doors, which fits the mostly 1967-1999 housing stock around town rather than ground-up installs.

Should I repair or replace an old door?

Depends on the door. If the track and hardware are sound and it's just a spring or cable, repair makes sense. If the panels are original to a house from the 1970s and the opener, track, and springs are all failing together, replacement often costs less over time. We'll tell you which before we start work.
